Website Design for Female Entrepreneurs

If you’re a female entrepreneur in the process of building a website for your business, one of the questions you’re probably asking yourself is what your website should have on it so that it attracts, engages, and converts your dream leads.

Website design is everything when it comes to taking those potential customers who land on your site to becoming your new clients. As a website designer for female entrepreneurs, I’m all about helping you build a website that strategically works for you. Because when women are seen it impacts our bottom line. And economically empowered women make the world a better place.

And of course, all websites start with strategic branding, but you can learn more about that at the end.

Let’s dive into what you need to include in your website design to help elevate your business and ensure your website reaches its fullest potential.

What You Need to Include in Your Website Design

To establish trust, show your expertise, and capture and hold the attention of a new lead, here are my recommendations on what needs to be a part of your website design:

Authentic Story-Driven Content

You want to make it very clear from the moment a lead lands on your website who you are, what you offer, how you are going to solve their problem, and how they can work with you.

You’re going to do this through authentic, story-driven content to give your users the best experience possible – this means that you are not having an AI bot write your website copy for you. YOU need to relate your story to your ideal clients and captivate them.

I encourage you to take some time to think about how you can make your story and copy bite-sized, easy-to-follow, and thoughtful. All of your copy should have a clear purpose. You don’t want website copy that feels like extra fluff, is not relevant, and doesn’t help guide the user one step further down your funnel.

My client Dueta, whose branding messaging I wrote, is an example of authentic, story-driven content. Since Dueta is an innovative company that offers a modern approach for entrepreneurs, I made sure their copy included ‘active’ messaging—the best example being our use of ‘Du’ as ‘Do’ and creating signature phrasing around this. Take a look here.

Professional Brand Photography

Having professional brand photos is a must for your website, as they will help build your trust and credibility.

Professional branding photos are not just about having photos that look good. They are an asset that helps reinforce your brand identity and also shows that you are dedicated to what you do.

Brand photos also create a strong, positive first impression and build a connection with your audience. When potential clients see your brand photos, they can start to imagine what it would be like to work with you.

Not a service-based business? My advice is to get product branding photography that shows your products in action

High-Converting Calls to Action (CTAs)

Instead of something generic like “buy now” or “inquire here,” try to make your CTAs more genuine and personalized to your users.

You want them to be action-based and inviting to move them one step further on their journey.

Some examples of high-converting calls to action that you could try using are “Let’s get started”, “Okay, let’s do this,” or “Ready to X?” Remember, with your CTA’s, they all need to be clear and guide the user to take action.

When creating a website for my client Golden Hour Esthetics, including strong CTA’s was at the top of my mind throughout the design process. Take a look at the live website here.

Strategic Color Psychology

Instead of having your website be a mash-up of a bunch of random different colors, this is where your branding and color palette are critical for your website design.

Emotions influence your ideal client’s behavior on your website and impact their decision to work with you. Color psychology directly influences emotions and trust in your brand and affects the way your business is perceived.

Your color palette can strategically work for you by helping enhance your brand’s personality and creating a connection with a new lead. This is exactly what I did with Honey & Comb’s website. To see color psychology in action, click here.

Intentional Layout and Flow

Design your website with your client’s needs in mind. Easy navigation will ensure that your visitors stay on your website and want to spend time exploring it.

Your website design also needs to have a logical flow to it. You don’t want any pages that are too hard to find or that when a user lands on a page they can’t easily navigate back to your home or inquiry page.

All of your key information, such as services, contact options, and testimonials, needs to be readily accessible without overwhelming the user. An intentional layout will make a potential lead more likely to stay engaged and more likely to convert.

For example, my client Southwest Wanderlust has a direct booking site and offers property management services, but her site is primarily for guests, so there is an easy flow for those booking a stay that takes priority over advertising property management services. She has one dedicated page for that. See what this looks like here.

Mobile-First Design

In a mobile-first world, and when many of us juggle our businesses on the go, functional, mobile design is essential. Having a mobile-first design will improve user experience and ensure that your website is responsive and accessible.

Trust-Building Elements

A high-converting website always has trust-building elements.

This looks like testimonials, case studies, client success stories, a press page, etc. You want to make sure that these are featured throughout your website to again build trust and confidence in your business and also to show your expertise.

If someone can see how you helped someone just like them previously this will boost their confidence in choosing to work with you and also help you increase your conversions.

This was the main focus of WealthChoice’s website design. I strategically included case studies, testimonials, and a press section to build confidence in their services and establish trust with new users. You can see what this looks like just below.

Final Thoughts on Website Design for Female Entrepreneurs

I hope that you found this guide helpful as you start to map out your own website design for your business.
