What You Need for a Standout Health and Wellness Website Design

The health and wellness space is filled with countless businesses offering a wide range of services, and it can be hard to carve out your own space. But, that’s exactly what I am here to help with.  One of the best ways to do this is with a stand-out and strategic health and wellness website design.

As a web designer myself, I have worked with businesses in this space and understand just how important it is to have a professional website (that also looks stunning) that puts your brand story and approach at the forefront.

There are a few key areas throughout your site that are essential when it comes to doing the above and helping you stand out from others in the health and wellness world. So, if you are thinking about your own health and wellness website design, here are the key elements that you need on your website.

What You Need on Your Health and Wellness Website

Information About You and Your Team

One of the most important parts of your website will be information about you (and your team if you have one). In this health and wellness, you are likely very involved in the service/product itself -sometimes on a deep level, and it is so important that your clients are the right fit for both you and your service/products.

Your about page can include who you are and why you got started in this field. This can give people a greater insight into why you are doing what you are doing and may even give them some common ground with you. I can’t stress how important it is to go beyond the LinkedIn/Resume profile here. Let people in!

Other information you should include is any degrees, credentials, or certificates that you have. This is especially important if you are in a space where client testimonials may not be an option. Showing your credentials can help to build trust and credibility before someone even reaches out. But remember, tell the story first, and don’t hold back. So many folks only focus on the credentials and stats and facts, but that won’t help you connect in the way that makes a sale. It adds trust, but you need both!

One more way you can build authority is by featuring any publications you have been highlighted in. Whether this was a write-up about you/your products or a piece that you wrote for another publication. Being trusted by bigger businesses is a great boost of credibility and shouldn’t be ignored.

If you do have a team that works with you, don’t forget to feature them as well. These people may also be working with your clients and it’s just as important that they know and trust your team just as much as they trust you.

Who You Specialize Working With

For most people in the health and wellness space, you have a specific type of client that you work with or a specific group of people you serve with your products. Maybe this is for a specific type of therapy, like art therapy or outdoor therapy, or a specific type of person, such as kids or LGBTQ+.

You want to make sure that this is clear and upfront so people can clearly understand if they are the right fit for your services right off the bat. For example, if you have a more advanced yoga studio, you want to make sure that is clear from the start so someone who is a beginner knows that this may not be the best fit for them right now.

You can do this with words, yes, but also with your visuals. If it’s an advanced yoga studio, then having images of folks in ‘child’s pose’ or even downward dog would imply it was an easy class. Instead, opt for more advanced poses. If your wellness business caters to kids, then the colors and font choices can be playful, fun, and youthful – implying who your audience is without even saying it.

Your Unique Approach

It can be said about any industry out there – there are countless other people who offer the same services as you. The difference between you and the next person is your unique approach to what you offer. The age-old saying, you can innovate, not invent, and still find success.

So, you want to make sure what makes your services or products unique (your USP)  is highlighted right at the forefront of your website. You want people to be able to see the distinction right off the bat and not have to search or assume that people are going to make their way to certain sections of the site.

The Actual Services That You Offer

This may seem a bit obvious, but it is crucial that you describe what you offer in detail. Do you have different options that people can choose from? Do you have a signature offer that you work through with everyone? How can people decide what is the best option for them?

And don’t forget, even with a clearly defined product suite, people are going to have questions about what it is and what is going to help them the most. Your services page is also a great place to have any frequently asked questions below the packages/services/products.

These can be questions about your services, who they are right for, what they actually entail, whether you accept insurance or any other questions that you get from potential clients.

A Brand That Speaks to Your Ideal Client

Your website is only half of the battle. Your brand also plays a significant role in connecting with your ideal clients and creates an overall aesthetic that your clients are looking for. You can have the best website in the world, but without a strategic brand to back it up, it can fall flat.

For example, if you have a wellness studio that has a very calm and tranquil environment, but you have a color palette that is very bold and loud, it may not connect with your clients and give off the vibe that they are looking for. On the flip side, if you have a palette filled with calming and warm colors, they will instantly feel relaxed when they land on your site. The same is true for font choice, images, layout, etc.

An Easy and Secure Way for People to Reach Out to You

Having a space to get in touch with you is important for any website. You could give all the information in the world, but if people don’t know how to actually get in touch or book an appointment with you, all of your efforts may go down the drain.

You want to make sure that you have really clear calls to action throughout the site that lead people towards reaching out to you. Your contact page is also a key element of your site and should be very clear to understand.

Whether you allow people to book directly there, get on a call with you, fill out a form, or just send you an email, they should be able to easily accomplish this without feeling like they are searching everywhere for it.

If you are in a space where you can allow people to directly book appointments with you (for example, booking classes, spa appointments, etc) or even just book a consultation call, having a direct link to the scheduler on your website is a great idea.

Most websites allow you to embed some sort of scheduler to make this quick and easy for you and your clients. This can help you keep your schedule more organized and put together a streamlined client experience.

A Clear User Journey

Your website should never be confusing. It should always be quick and easy for your clients to navigate through it and find exactly what they are looking for. Your user journey has several different aspects.

First, you want to ensure a clear hierarchy with your headings. Your website should be easy for your clients to skim through and still catch all of the important information you want to highlight.

Second, you want to make sure that there are buttons throughout that guide your clients through your site. It should never be difficult for your clients to navigate through your pages and they should easily be able to find your contact page.

Finally, you should always have a call to action at the bottom of your pages. This will help people navigate your site and stay engaged with your content.

A Blog or Resources Page

Last but certainly not least, you should have some sort of blog or resources page on your website. A blog is a great way to educate potential clients and provide valuable information that can help them, as well as draw in organic traffic.

When it comes to the health and wellness space, resources can also be life-changing. Whether this is information on other organizations, helplines, or anything in between, this resources page can go beyond booking a new client–it can truly help someone right then and there.
