Branding For Creatives

Client: Paulette Perhach

Paulette Perhach booked the custom brand design package. She was unique in that she needed a personal brandmark and two marks for her stand-out coaching programs.

Her vibe was not to be like other writer brands with images of perfect desks, and hands posed with pencil or keyboard. Instead, her brand shows the hot mess that builds powerful words. Below is just a peek at the project.

Paulette Perhach is an author, writer, and coach. Her work has been published in Vox, New York Times, and more. Now, she coaches other writers on how to build a career and life around writing, even when that means both Champagne and Ramen moments.

The Brand Promise:

What Paulette Had to Say

inspire Business Growth With Branding for Creatives

As a creative professional, a strong personal brand is the backbone of your success. Whether you’re an artist, a content creator, a service provider, or an educator, personal branding is what makes you stand out from competitors.

In an era where social media profiles often blend together, differentiating your personal brand and embracing your authentic self naturally makes potential clients gravitate toward you.

Building a strong visual identity that cultivates a loyal following requires more than just throwing together a few pretty brand colors and designing a logo. I know you could do it, you’re a creative after all… but here’s where I use the wine bottle analogy. You’re a fine wine, and you know you’re good. But from inside the bottle, it’s hard to know what should go on your label so that you can truly standout on the shelf. That’s why it’s always worth it to find a professional who can help with your brand portion, even as a creative/

And our process will be deeply creative process that uncovers your mission statement, unique value proposition, and values and communicates them visually to your ideal audience. Strong personal branding makes you magnetic so you can grow your business and impact more lives.

Why is it important for creatives and artists to have a Brand?

Strong branding for creative entrepreneurs and artists is essential for multiple reasons. First, it equips you with a cohesive visual identity so you can carve out a unique niche and attract your ideal audience.

Strong personal branding conveys professionalism and credibility, which instills trust in your potential clients and makes them more likely to invest in your services or buy your products.

The truth is that modern customers are ultimately driven by visuals. Including color enhances brand recognition by as much as 80%, and understanding color psychology helps creative businesses communicate their personalities and leave a lasting impression on their audience.

Strong creative branding fosters deeper connections, trust, and loyalty so you can reach more people, grow your impact, and increase your revenue.

The Branding Process For Creatives

How the uplevel begins

At Bethany Works®, we’ve created unmistakable personal branding for artists, coaches for budding creatives, authors, lifestyle brands, and public figures who are ready to start showing up as the powerhouses they are.

If you want to communicate your vision and expertise to your target audience through a strong personal brand, here’s a process we recommend to help you uncover your brand personality.

step 1

Defining Your Artistic Brand Identity

The first step to unforgettable personal branding is defining what your creative brand stands for and who you serve. To capture your audience’s attention, your creative branding must be more than just a pretty color scheme.

It needs to speak to your values and mission and create an emotional connection with your ideal audience. To define your artistic brand identity, we’ll focus on clarifying the following areas:

  • Understanding Your Vision and Values: At the heart of every compelling artistic brand lies a clear vision and set of values. We’ll take the time to introspect and define what drives your creative work. What themes, emotions, or messages do you want to convey through your art? What values do you hold dear, and how do they manifest in your work? When you align your brand with your authentic vision and values, you lay the foundation for a genuine and resonant connection with more loyal clients.
  • Identifying Your Target Audience: It’s essential to know who you’re speaking to. Understanding who your work resonates with is essential for shaping your brand identity. We’ll consider demographics such as age, gender, location, and interests, but don’t stop there. We’ll also dive deeper into psychographics – the attitudes, values, and lifestyles of your target audience. Pinpoint who your ideal audience is so you can tailor your brand messaging, aesthetic, and channels of communication to resonate with your people.
  • Crafting a Compelling Narrative: Every creative has a story to tell, and your brand narrative is how you share it with the world. Your journey, inspirations, and challenges all contribute to your brand story. We’ll help craft a brand narrative that captivates and resonates so your audience can connect with you on a deeper level. Remember to stay authentic! We always encourage you to embrace your quirks, vulnerabilities, and unique voice to create a personal brand that is distinctly yours.

step 2

Designing Your Visual Brand Guidelines

It’s time to bring your personal brand to life with your brand visuals! Every business needs cohesive visual assets to use across your website and all marketing channels.

Whether you like minimalist designs or want to add a splash of color, we’ll focus on creating the following visual brand elements:

  • Logo: Your logo is the foundation of your visual brand identity – it’s a symbol that embodies your brand! We’ll define clear rules for logo usage, including size, placement, color variations, and minimum clear space.
  • Color Palette: Next, we’ll strategically choose a cohesive color palette that reflects your brand’s personality and resonates with your target audience. You’ll also receive your primary and secondary colors and a note of their hex codes so you can easily implement them across all your marketing materials and social media profiles.
  • Typography: Additionally, we’ll need to select multiple fonts for different use purposes, such as headings, subheadings, body text, and more! You’ll receive fonts that fit with your brand aesthetics and are easy for your potential clients to read.
  • Imagery Style: We’ll determine the style and tone of imagery that best aligns with your brand and can coordinate a brand photoshoot to visually convey your brand story and personality.
  • Graphic Elements: Lastly, we’ll Identify any recurring graphic elements that contribute to your brand’s visual language. It could be geometric shapes, patterns, or icons.

By the end of this step, you will have comprehensive visual brand guidelines that fully represent your business and story.

If you have a team, share your documented visual brand guidelines with them so they can use them appropriately when marketing your business or communicating with clients.

step 3

Sending Your Brand Out Into the Wild

It’s time to share your personal branding and creativity with the world! Update your website with your new logo, colors, fonts, and brand elements, and start implementing them across all your marketing channels for a cohesive look. If you’ve chosen a website design package, we’ll help you with this!

Research shows that maintaining a consistent brand presentation across all platforms can boost revenue by as much as 23%, so make sure to follow your visual brand guidelines at all times so your most loyal clients immediately recognize your brand when they encounter it online!
